Common house plant with large broad oval leaves, dark green with a leathery feel. Can grow up to 30 metres (100ft) in its natural habitat, but size varies as an indoor plant. Some varieties have variegated leaves.


The sap is poisonous if eaten and skin irritations if handled.


Vomiting and diarrhoea, blistering or a rash if the sap is in contact with the skin.
